Getting pregnant is not always as easy as it seems, especially when some women seem to get pregnant just by dropping their knickers, and other couples are having trouble getting pregnant. Among other things, it's about having sex at the right time of the month. Making sure that you are at your optimum health and that reproductive organs are all in working order.
With so many considerations to take into account, it's amazing that people do manage to conceive very fast! But, if you are having trouble getting pregnant and want to increase your chances of becoming pregnant, here are some ideas and fertility advice to help speed up conception.
1. Visit Your Gynecologist
A visit to a gynecologist should be first on your agenda when it comes to fertility advice, even if you are just in the planning stage of pregnancy and haven't been struggling to get pregnant. They will take your detailed history and be able to determine whether there might be any factors that could lower your chances of getting pregnant.
Your husband should come to the same appointments and be willing to share his medical history as well. After all, it takes two to become pregnant and when having trouble getting pregnant, it can be down to either partner, or even both.
Some fertility advice that your doctor may offer is to lose weight if you are medically obese. Extra weight can decrease your chances of becoming pregnant, but the reason why this is the case, is not obvious straightaway. If you are overweight and have regular menstrual cycles, there is unlikely to be an issue. However, if you have irregular menstrual cycles, this could be put down to being overweight, amongst others.
One symptom of being overweight is often an imbalance of hormones, which ends up adversely affecting the menstrual cycle. If there is a deficiency in female hormones, it is possible the eggs won't mature properly for fertilization.
If this is a problem, many women with this condition find that they grow hair in places that women don't usually have hair, like the face; as they are producing more male hormones. Whilst this male hormone is essential for conception, it should not be produced in high quantities from the woman, as this will result in them having difficulties getting pregnant.
2. Don't Let Briefs Limit You
Does your husband wear tight clothing, like briefs, jeans, or pants?
Some good fertility advice to take heed of is to make sure that your man wears boxers and stays away from tight clothing, while you are trying for a baby, as this will increase the chances of becoming pregnant.
Tight briefs can cause problems, like pushing the testicles closer to the body where the added heat and restricted air flow to this area can affect sperm health. Also, hot baths and cycling should be avoided, as this can also cause too much heat to build up in the genital area and limit sperm productivity.
3. Pursue a Healthy Lifestyle
If you are having trouble getting pregnant, improving your chances of becoming pregnant can be as easy as improving your diet.
Folic acid is an essential vitamin when trying for a baby. Studies show that taking folic acid before becoming pregnant and during pregnancy, can reduce neural tube defects in newborns. A good place to find folic acid is natural orange juice, which is also full of vitamin C - another vitamin that helps your body keep healthy.
You have to remember that, the healthier you are, will mean a healthier baby, so consider starting an exercise regime if you are not already doing so. This will help you stay, or get in shape and is also a good stress reducer. Stress can be a major factor when couples are having problems getting pregnant, as it can affect sperm and egg health.
These three tips are far from the be all and end all of fertility advice. There are lots of other things to try like alternative medicine, and once you think you are running out of options, there are other options like in-vitro fertilization or using a surrogate.
The key to increasing your chances of becoming pregnant is to believe that you will become a mom and dad, even if you are having trouble getting pregnant now. Never give up.
